Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing The Tattooed Cake Lady.

I specialise in creating bespoke, handcrafted cakes and edible creations, individually designed to suit your celebration. As every order is made especially for you, these Terms & Conditions are intended to ensure a clear understanding between both parties and help everything run as smoothly as possible from booking through to collection or delivery.

By paying your deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

Booking Your Order

  • Orders are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
  • No date is reserved until the required deposit has been received. Enquiries alone do not guarantee availability.
  • A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total order value is required to secure your booking unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Payments

  • The remaining balance for celebration cakes is due upon collection or at least 24 hours before delivery.
  • The remaining balance for wedding cakes must be paid no later than one calendar month before the wedding date.
  • Cakes will not be released or delivered until full payment has been received.

Changes & Cancellations

  • Minor design changes may be possible depending on notice and availability.
  • Significant changes to the design, size or flavour of your order may incur additional charges.
  • Deposits are non-refundable as they secure your booking date and cover planning and preparation.
  • If you cancel after work has commenced, additional charges may apply up to the full value of the order depending on the stage of completion.

Collection & Delivery

  • It is the customer’s responsibility to transport the cake safely once it has been collected.
  • Cakes should always be transported on a flat, level surface, ideally in the boot or footwell of a vehicle. During warm weather, air conditioning is recommended.
  • Once the cake has left my care, responsibility for its condition passes to the customer.
  • Where delivery has been arranged, responsibility transfers once the cake has been delivered and accepted at the agreed venue or address.

Collection by a Third Party

  • If the customer arranges for a family member, friend, colleague or courier to collect the cake on their behalf, collection by that person will be deemed acceptance of the order.
  • Responsibility for the cake transfers to the customer at the point of collection.

Cake Care, Serving & Consumption

  • Cakes are intended for consumption within 5 days of the collection or delivery date unless otherwise advised.
  • During periods of exceptionally warm or humid weather, this recommended period may be reduced.
  • Cakes should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, radiators and other heat sources.
  • The Tattooed Cake Lady cannot accept responsibility for the quality, freshness or safety of cakes consumed outside the recommended timeframe or where care instructions have not been followed.

Allergens

  • Cakes are prepared in a kitchen that handles common allergens including, but not limited to, milk, eggs, wheat (gluten), nuts, peanuts and soya.
  • While every care is taken, I cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from traces of allergens.
  • It is the customer’s responsibility to inform me of any allergies or dietary requirements before placing an order.

Decorations & Children’s Safety

  • Some cakes contain non-edible supports including dowels, wires, cocktail sticks and internal support structures. These must be removed before serving.
  • Decorative sugar items may also contain hard pieces that could present a choking hazard for young children.
  • Adult supervision is recommended when serving cakes to children.
  • Fresh flowers supplied by the customer or florist must be food-safe. The Tattooed Cake Lady accepts no responsibility for flowers supplied by third parties.

Design Inspiration

  • I am happy to use photographs and inspiration images as a guide for your cake, however, I will not create an exact replica of another cake artist’s work.
  • Every cake is individually designed and handmade, so slight variations from sketches, inspiration images and previous designs should be expected.

Complaints & Refunds

  • If you are unhappy with your order, please contact me as soon as possible.
  • Any concerns regarding the quality or condition of the cake must be reported within 24 hours of collection or delivery.
  • To enable a fair assessment, at least 50% of the cake must be returned in its original condition.
  • Without the returned cake, I may be unable to investigate or offer a refund or replacement.
  • Refunds or partial refunds will only be considered after the cake has been inspected.
  • Refunds will not be offered where damage has occurred due to incorrect handling, transportation or storage after the cake has left my care.

Photography

  • I reserve the right to photograph my work and use the images on my website, social media and other promotional materials unless you request otherwise before your event.

Force Majeure

  • Whilst every effort will be made to fulfil your order, The Tattooed Cake Lady shall not be liable for delays, alterations or cancellations caused by circumstances beyond my reasonable control. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather, accidents, fire, flood, power failures, illness, family emergencies, government restrictions or any other unforeseen event.
  • If I am unable to complete your order due to such circumstances, any payments made for work not yet completed will be refunded. My liability will be limited to the amount paid for the order.

General

  • Every cake is handmade and slight variations in colour, finish and decoration are part of the bespoke nature of the product.
  • By placing an order and paying your deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
